Orient Express Venezia is situated in the Cannaregio district, away from the crowds of San Marco. The palazzo stands at the confluence of two canals, including the Rio de Noale, approximately ten minutes on foot from Venice Santa Lucia station. Cannaregio is one of the city's most authentic neighbourhoods, with a local life that remains largely intact.

Built in 1436 by Filippo Calendario, the architect behind the Doge's Palace, the palazzo was gifted to the Duke of Urbino in the 16th century. It hosted significant events, including the 1548 wedding of Princess Vittoria Farnese. Its Neogothic facade, defined by seven Gothic windows, is one of the finest examples of Venetian patrician architecture.

The restoration was led by Aline Asmar d'Amman, architect and interior designer. She oversaw the conservation of the original frescoes, intricate mosaic floors and the 19th-century octagonal staircase designed by Giovanni Battista Meduna. Every intervention sought to preserve the memory of the building while bringing it into the present.

Arrival is by private boat. Guests access the palazzo either through the 15th-century Gothic portal that opens directly onto the canal, or via a discreet entrance leading to the garden of Santa Fosca. This mode of arrival ensures immediate immersion in the atmosphere of the palazzo, away from the bustle of the streets.

The hotel has forty-seven rooms, suites and apartments. The Piano Nobile houses six Signature Suites, including the Cherubini Suite with its blue-and-gold dome. Orient Express Apartments, in the adjacent building, are available for longer stays. Rates start from €1,320 per night.
